Positioned above the desired water level within the pool, the DrainSmart sensor wirelessly communicates with the DrainSmart valve controller to perform operation of an automatic valve. The DrainSmart sensor will wake up every 30-minutes, check that the current water level is not above the desired level and if necessary, wirelessly communicate the information to the valve controller. When necessary, the controller will open the valve and drain for 7-minutes. The sensor will continue to check the water level every 30-minutes.

I already had the levelsmart auto fill so this just adds to the automation a real time saver now if they could make an automatic skimmer and backwash product we would be all set. They also have the best tech support in the industry you ask or call they answer fast and follow up with you.
Very simple, if you have a pool this is a must, I got the auto fill and the auto drain, I have a small pool and big rains will over fill it pretty quick! I had a few problems setting them up, but Ryan from Kona Labs was a big help, He answered my call very time, and talked me though the problems BIG HELP!! He knows his stuff! Once everything was on-line, my water levels stay the same, we get big rains it drains out the extra water, if it needs water tops it off to the same level every time! Great system! Thanks Kona Labs and a Bug thank you to Ryan!
yes, you can have a DrainSmart and a LevelSmart in the same area without interference. Each sensor communicates only with its paired controller. Pair units at different times to avoid pairing issues. Customers commonly use separate units for pool, spa, and water features.
We have thousands of DrainSmarts installed on negative edge pools. The sensor can be fully submerged in the catch basin without any issues.
The DrainSmart Sensor adheres to your pool with a marine grade A/B epoxy. When mounting your Sensor you will need to knead the epoxy to effectively mix the components and apply it to the back of the Sensor.
Every DrainSmart comes with A/B epoxy.
When selecting antenna length, keep in mind our long-range communication distance is up to 1,000 feet between the Sensor and the Antenna Tip. The antenna cord length ensures you get that antenna tip in a position that will allow successful communication between the Valve Controller and the Sensor.
If you are unsure if you need the extra distance, you can always purchase an extra 25 ft of Antenna Extension post-purchase.

"The sensor does not work. It was not clear at purchase time that it cannot be set at the same level as the drain sensor which essentially when there’s it useless if you have an overhang coping. Not sure how this can ever work out for us, even though it was installed before we figured that out."
